Input on Authenticity of IWC 3741

Hello all,

I am interested in a particular IWC (Ref. 3741) from my coworker’s friend. But because the watch does not include any papers or authenticity card, I have been mostly comparing photos online in an effort to authenticate the watch. I greatly appreciate any input to shine some light on the authenticity of this watch!

Included (in addition to the watch):
- Original box and hang tag
- Receipt for the most recent service

The watch looks original to me, as is the box.
You need to check that everything works ie
1. That the date changes at 12am
2. That the chronograph runs, as this is independent from the timing mechanism
3. That the watch runs accurately

If all is in order, you are safe to purchase this mecaquartz watch.
I make two observations about the condition. The strap is not IWC (the buckle is) and the case and tang buckle have been very heavily polished. This can really be seen on the caseback. If this doesn't bother you, go ahead.

Here is a friend's 3741 for comparison. You can see how much sharper the edges of the bezel and lugs are.

That's what I have to say too, it seems all right.

Oh wait a minute, the hang tag is not correct for this model, it's for a 3706, as can be seen by non matching serial numbers. But this really is not a big thing, seeing that there are no papers anyway.

The case looks really very heavily polished. It looks even as if the originally satinated surfaces are now shining.
But the watch looks original. The movement looks correct and the soft iron innner cage as well.
