Hi guys,

This is a forerunner of cal.52, recognisable by its semi-circular threequarter plate nearby the balance wheel. If the diameter of the movement is 18 lignes ( 40,7 mm) this will be a caliber 54. If the diameter is 20 lignes ( 45,2 mm., it is a cal. IWC model 1888. The movement has been made in 1888.
Kind regards,
Adrian,
(alwaysiwc).
Hi Alwaysiwc,
The diameter is 40,7 mm so it seems to be cal.54.
I have nowhere found how many were produced. Does cal. 54 belong to
rare ones or is it just a common caliber?
With best regards
Mudloch
Hi Mudloch,
Cal. 54 (and 55 for the Savonette) is very rare.
Adrian.
