....IWC''''s most beautiful model of 2010?
Hard to argue with your selection. >>>
It is hard not to like two other new references from 2010, but I believe they would be eliminated from consideration because one is prohibitively expensive and the other is a speciality, limited edition watch. Regardless, these two strike my fancy as beautifully designed IWC's as well.
Everyone knows my personal favorite is the Blue dial PPC, but I am not putting it in competition in this thread.
So I can see why you put the Yacht Club in consideration. It is a beauty.

Prohibitively expensive Grande Complication

Too bad this is a LE IWC. It is a stunning and affordable candidate.
In my opinion, no
It is an interesting watch, and maybe "25 3" doesn't look so bad in reality, but as you asked about the most beautiful model of 2010, there are other watches that deserve this title from me.
For me, the white gold Portuguese Perpetual Calendar is probably the most beautiful watch of 2010, it has everything you could want, and it is absolutely stunning. Also the hand-wound Portuguese with the white dial and the grey subdial comes very close. The more expensive Portuguese leave me more in awe, they are beautiful indeed, but I do not really connect to them. The ceramic Da Vinci is not made to be beautiful.
Kind regards,
Paul, wearing steel VC Pilot's watch, not the most beautiful one, but beautiful enough and very nice to wear
That's why they make different watches (nt)
Sure, do you think it is the most beautiful one?
The question you asked is a bit dangerous, as one can only answer positively if one agrees: if the watch comes second out of twenty the answer is no, making it sound much more negative than intended.

Please Google "rose gold 5N"....
...you will learn that most of the watch, jewelery, and metallurgical industries label all copper-added golds as "rose", and that "rose gold 5N" is a relatively standard term for the 5N metal used on this watch. This is true even if IWC or marketing also calls it "red gold". I believe both descriptions are correct, but thank you for your post.
Sometimes, a post is not meant >>>>
......to be taken too literally.
If the it's not "the" most beautiful, it certainly is "one of the most" beautiful!!!!!

It certainly looks good on you!
I think about all the watches presented this year look very good, some of them even better than that, so congratulations IWC, it is well deserved. Within this positive qualification the Portuguese Chrono is not on the top of my list, but it is a very nice watch, of course. Given the question Michael asked I tried to make this clear, and answer his question too. I am not quite sure what Michael meant by his question, though, and why he asked it, but I really thought that he wanted to know our opinion, so I obliged.

I never thought I would like
a RG watch. I always believed SS was my type.
But in this SIHH I have changed my mind, better IWC made me change my mind although I fell for another watch I have to agree with MF, RG YC looks spectacular, furhtermore I should remember to never say never again.

Nobody beats IWC when it comes to make rg watches>
I used rg so I won't MF nor Diaphane get upset :)
I prefer other watches in the new line though, manual 44mm white dial has a very charming vintage look to my eyes, that's the one I like the most, not considering the, to me, "unreachable" ones.
I'm with you NAD! Well said, great pics! nt
Is the rose gold, ardoise dial Yacht Club....
For sure it is an interesting combination of metal and dial color. It's nice to see how the dial warms up with the gold and almost looks like tobacco (in contrast with the cooler feel in the WG models).
All 3 Yacht Clubs are beautiful, but would have to see them in person before I could single out a winner.
If money was not a constraint, the GC & retrograde would be very strong contestants for the title.
Could you imagine a retrograde w/o the tourbillion (for us mortals)..?
Cheers,
Evan
Agreed...
I was never big on gold until I saw the rg collections from IWC. It changed my mind to the extent that I now have one for dress wear, and consider a rose gold PPC one of my "grail" watches.
Best regards,
Jim
Wow, the more I see...
pics of the LE DFB Ingenieur...the more I think that Alan led the way snagging another really special IWC!
Best regards,
Jim
I wouldn't say that "rose gold 5N" is a standard..
Any of the common alloys of gold and copper may be referred to as "rose gold" but it seems as though more manufacturers are leaning towards calling alloys with higher copper content "red gold" and alloys with lighter copper content as "pink gold". There is no official standard, but I think of 3N as pink gold, 4N as rose gold and 5N as red gold. IWC also considers my 5N Aquatimer 3769 to be red gold.
gorgeous watch, looks great Nad!
"N" series are colour standards
The ‘N’ series of alloys are the European colour standards
for 14 and 18 carat golds, covered under the European Standard EN 28654 and the International Standard ISO 8654. From "Effect of cobalt additions on the properties of 5N red gold alloys"
The standards don't appear to be available for free online to get the exact definitions but we can see the properties in the above chart from the World Gold Council (the full article is on the link below)
Maybe there are finer definitions eg pink, red, rose, within 5N but I could not find anything online.
Cheers from the cellar

Thank you, great information...
I was trying to say that 5N was not known only as "rose gold" as a set standard description - and your chart clearly labels 5N as "red gold". I did not know the specifics on the alloy blends and colors so there is a great deal of information learned from your link - Thank you.
