Hey IWC community, it would be awesome if you could help me identifying this watch and provide some more info concerning production year, characteristics and provide an estimated value. Thank you so much!

It's an early cal. 852, but not one of the earliest automatics, as those were cal. 85

There is no model name. It is simply an early automatic.

    Regards,

    Tony C.

Cool Thanks Tony C, and do you think this is a gold housing from that time? Any recommendations about the value of the watch? Thanks in advance! Tom

Tom, this is indeed a very nice example of a Cal. 85x and it looks to be in quiet good condition too.

According to the DateYourIWC utility the movement is a calibre 852, dating from the year 1952 and the case was most probably produced respectively delivered around 1954.

So definitely qualifies as a senior citizen. Yet at the same time very sprightly in that it carries the credentials of Mr. Pelaton and as are all Cal. 85 automatics it is fitted with his famous and highly efficient (still in use by IWC today) Pelaton winding mechanism.

We are non commercial here - so dont discuss prices - but if you mail me at levi@iae.xxx (where .xxx = .nl) I can respond offline to you.
