I recently learned of the new iPad magazine app, and a member here beat me to posting its release (even IWC doesn't know when Apple approves an app).

If you have an iPad, download the new app now. It doesn't have 100% of the printed version, but it's close --and it's better. For images, there are transitions where multiple or sequential photos appear (like for dissecting a movement). It's both cool and uses modern graphic media better than print can.

The iPad app shows issue 3, which many of you have seen. Issue 04-2010 should be out shortly in iPad version.

I also have several print copies of the magazine which is the 4th of this year. and will be giving them away in due course. This issue features Hans-Conrad Stamm in the collector profile, and I even got a mention. H-C is a good friend, a great IWC fan and an occasional contributor to our forum. There's also a nice article on manual wind watches by Manfred Fritz, a profile on an IWC executive, and several interesting life-style articles. If you're a subscriber, you should be receiving the print issue soon.

I also love how you can pinch to magnify the pixel-perfect images. You can see even the finest detail in the cases and movements. It is quite stunning on the iPad display.

I find that the flow of the magazine app works really well. The display is virtually 100% dedicated to content and you flick down to continue reading a section or flick right to advance to the next section. It takes a second to get used to but then I found myself happily flicking though the entire issue.

The app also can take you to the IWC website without losing your place in the magazine to find nearby retailers or even to join this forum.

    I'm very impressed.
