It was a fairly quiet year for me. My 5445 VC Portuguese and 5454 Handwind Portuguese with contrasting subdial both left to make room for the new to me Transitional Big Pilot.

The 5250 pocket Portofino Moonphase was about to depart for a new home in Asia, but concerns over insurance in shipment and customs duties interfered, so it is still in the flock.

I am really happy with the balance I now have. Two dressy gold watches (Jubilee and Portofino Moonphase), three sporty watches (Ingenieur, Aquatimer, and Big Pilot), and one that can easily go either way (Pisa).

It is likely that little will change during 2012 unless SIHH brings a new pilot watch I can't resist.

Dick, I have said it before I believe....I think you have some really superb and specialy nice watches in your collection. Many out here, would be envious of such a collection, and I for one struggle to understand how you mange to move some pieces out ....only to be more amazed when you replace them with even nicer pieces (and all becomes clear).

This is what our hobby and passion is all about - and you no doubt get a high level of satisfaction from putting together the collection.

I'll be interested too, to see what 2012 SIHH brings and if anything in the novelties there, will appeal to you.

    Best regards
    Mark

Great collection Dick. Some come and some go, but you have some real gems in your box. My collection hasn't changed much lately. Too busy doing other things, especially a lot of work to do. Here is a picture of the state of my IWC collection at the moment, eagerly waiting to see what new models will come in a few weeks time....

Like Norbert, I haven't had a change recently, but expect to with the new Pilot IWC's coming in 2012.

Dick, I would take your Pisa Portuguese or your Jubilee in rose gold any time.:)

Norberts, your rose gold PPC ref 5021 is no longer in production. Definitely a collectible.

Bill, you know which one I like most in your collection.:-)

    Congratulations to all!

With the risk of boring you all with the same story and pictures of the same watch, my IWC collection took a massive jump in 2011. It went from zero to one in a matter of a few weeks this summer - when the 502213 rose gold Portuguese Perpetual Calendar simply swept me off my feet during a layover at the Schipol airport in Amsterdam.

As has been said before the watch chooses you, not the other way around - and I found myself defensless. This beauty is now mine, and still the only IWC in my collection:
    i1105.photobucket.com/albums/h341/Skule/IWC%20PPC%2011-09-2011/IMG_3052.jpg

There has been several Christmas reveals, and a few teasers with reveals to come in the near future. Well, as discussed in another thread a couple of weeks ago regarding Christmas wishes - I got mine!!! I wished I would get the new job I have been applying for, and I did :-)

I promised my wife another watch if I got the new position, so she comes first - but after that there will indeed be another IWC for me - I'm just trying to figure out which one it should be??

If you have any suggestions feel free to pitch in :o)

Big Pilot 5002 or 5004. If you're lucky, a transitional BP 5002 like Dick!

    Skule,
Congratulations on your new job ;-) The nice thought is, that you entered in the top league first, so of course it's very difficult to leave a recommendation.
Nevertheless, I have seen many collectors collection and there is one clock which is almost never missing. This is the Big Pilot – 5002 or the new model 5004 ! Just like Tracy wrote....
It seems to me it is almost a must to have this one, even if I find them very big for people with smaller wrists. A model of the Laureus Series is a further variant, which could certainly be worth a consideration ....have fun pondering ....

I've added the first Ingenieurs to my collection this year. A near mint 3228 and a beautiful 3233 Laureus. They both compete for wrist time now. I never knew what all the Inge hype was all about until now. I have been converted!!

    Happy New Year to All
