My big addition this year was this Vintage Collection Portofino Hand-wound.
My Portuguese Automatic and Chronograph don't get much wrist time lately. My GST Chronograph is lying dormant. My oldest son wears the IWC Pilot's Watch Mark XVI.
It was a static year for my modest 'collection' but I am looking forward to the 2012 novelties. My goal is still to collect an IWC watch from each of the families. I'm missing an AT and a Portuguese. I was very fortunate in that I recently had the opportunity to view Bill's, Alan's, Dick's, Kevin's and a small part of MF's collection in person. I finally became convinced I could wear a Big Pilot after trying on Bill's and Alan's. It haunts my dreams!!!! So here is my SOTC at the end of 2011:

Here is to all of you and the great collections you've posted!
This was the year of IWC for me, as I bought three of them starting in August. I think next year will likely mean the addition of a Pilot in my collection as well.
First One - 5001
Second One - 3227
Currently at the service center and I'm dying to get it back.
My own IWC collection has grown this last year -- but there will be more on that when I've had a chance to get out the camera and take some photos of the new additions.
Welcome to the forum as active participant. Wow - 60 IWC watches. Hope to see you continuing to contribute here. 2011 was a great year with the 5 additions.
A much simpler and smaller quartz timepiece, also designed by Aulenti and manufactured by IWC, is the LV-II travel watch which has an alarm function that can be used as a reminder of an appointment, telephone calls or departure. Its case is in zirconium oxide, a ceramic chosen for its exceptional resistance. It neither scratches nor tarnishes. Totally impervious to water and anti-magnetic, the case came in black or green with a sapphire crystal.
Both above mentioned timepieces are remarkable achievements of two companies widely recognized and highly respected for their innovative accomplishments in their own fields. Thus, the purpose of this review is only to illustrate to watch enthusiasts these masterpieces which take a special place in the history of watchmaking.[/b]
2011 was my entry to collect IWC watches and it started of with the Portuguese Auto Seven days during the summer as a gift from my wife after 25 years of marriage, wich I am proud of since we got married just before the age of 19!
Later this year I hade the ability to acquire an Portuguese FA Jones and did so and I am very glad for this watch!
2012 > > ?
Well I am not sure what it will be,,, I am very found of the Portuguese family!
Unfortunately, on Christmas eve, I managed to do this:
So at least for now I will be finishing the year with 3 in the collection but hope to have that one back in a few weeks and maybe even add to the collection next year (did I hear someone say ardoise white gold Portuguese Perpetual Calendar???) :)
Cheers,
Ben
Oh Ben, that is a terrible way to spend Christmas Eve. I hope you get it resolved easily.
