This forum began on the 11th of June 2001. For the first post, please click on the link below. You also might enjoy searching for all posts in June 2001 --we're now starting our 10th year!

I recall well how we started. The launch was delayed, so I was on holiday at Meadowood Resort in Napa Valley, California, on June 11th, 2001. Back then, the backwoods didn't have broadband, so I had this phone-line connection from a cottage, and needed to post here.

My, how time flies. We were the first brand-sponsored forum on the Net, and in my opinion still one of the few and the best. We've had exclusives, we've had news, we've had forum watches, special contests, prizes, and all sorts of good stuff. Georges Kern has consistently run IWC during these years of important growth, and we --this forum-- have survived through all sorts of changes in the company and its personnel.

My compliments to all of you. No forum is better than its participants, and everyone here is great. You share, you think and you live and breath IWC. That's great for IWC, this forum and every member of this community.

I'm very proud of what we've built: this is a special community and we've also created a legacy of information about IWC. I'm glad you're here and appreciate what you contribute.

Thanks and cheers! Happy anniversary to us.

    Forum friends

Antother great thing about this forum is that the members become friends. On the occasions that we have meetings, it is like we know eachother for years. And everyone can feel welcomed. I was welcomed as much when I was the owner of a quartz Porsche Design IWC as a newcomer is welcomed with a PPC.

What we and IWC will never know ...

Is the number of watches that collectors have acquired as a result of participating in this Forum. I suspect it is a significant number. MF and IWC have done a magnificent job in maintaining the Forum and encouraging friendship amongst IWC collectors. Roll on the 10th and future anniversaries as the Forum continues to go from strength to strength.

    Congratulations to us, you all

It is great to be here, many of the aspects Michael mentions are true for me. As "Amsterdam" showed lately, it is about watches and community.

As for a business case: because of the forum I may have bought, say, four watches that I would not have bought otherwise, just because I knew about them and learned to love them. If half of that number would be true for all forum members over the past nine years, it could be a feasible concept money wise. Plus that added fun factor, the forum is a true winner.

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing steel VC Pilot's watch, one of that four

PS. My laptop died at home, Dell will deliver soon, but my contributions are meagre now, as at work I have other interests too

    Happy Anniversary!

As Nad said during last CF meeting talking to Herr Kern, this forum is the main source of information about IWC, the place to be, definetly.

I'm relatively new to this forum, I consider myself just an apprentice and so I found many Experts to learn more about IWC.

During the years it became a habit to me to attend this forum, I log in every day.

I'm glad I found so many watch enthusiast I have the honor to consider as friends now.

My very personal balance is more than positive. I think I owe so much to all of You, especially Michael, the success of this forum mainly depends on his opera, energy, passion and gentlemanliness.

Thank you IWC, Happy anniversary to the Forum!

Happy Anniversary! Congratulations Michael!! . .

Michael - thank you so much for all your support and hard work in building and enriching this virtual community - I can even remember the very old IWC website - and the early announcements of the coming "IWC Collector's Forum" - and over the last 9 years have met so many new friends and colleagues here.

    Cheers!!

And, may there be many more....

The IWC Forum is a constant part of my daily life. I have learned so much from MF and the other great contributors. And, I still have a lot more to learn.

So happy birthday / anniversary to the Collector's Forum. It goes without saying that this would be a very different place without MF and his guidance and storehouse of knowledge. Of course, we have to give thanks to IWC and Herr Kern as well as they provide the financial support to keep this wonderful place alive and vibrant.
