Thank you for your fast and interesting replies! I actually never considered the aspect of the eyes adapting to the dark in relation to the lume. I still believe the lume on this particular piece fades a tad to quickly and too dim though. So to your knowledge there is nothing to really be done service-wise?
You may find an independent watchmaker who could re-lume the dial and hands but your dial may end up looking a little sloppy. You could also have the watch serviced and ask for the dial and hands to be replaced, although this would be quite expensive and I'm not sure you'd notice any difference. If you'd like an IWC with bright lume, you may want to look at the Aquatimer family. The current Aquatimers are really good and the previous generation have even more lume presence with a lumed sapphire bezel.
