    Hi everyone,

    I recently bought the IW391008.
The watch is really beautiful and I like it alot.

It is my first IWC watch :)
... but I would like to hear your opinion on two things:

    1. Date/day not aligned.
The date and day is not 100% aligned, is this more a cosmetic matter or is it actually something wrong with the watch?

    First picture

    Second picture

    1. Time of new day.
The watch change date and day around 3 AM to 4 AM.
Is this common? Shouldn't it be around 11PM-1AM (pref 12 PM)

    Time and new day

Thank you all for your time and consideration.

It's not right and doesn't look right! Hopefully you purchased the "Portofino" from an AD?? In which case you can have it repaired under warranty.

The date and day should be completely changed by 12.05am 12.10 latest.
    Good Luck

Thank you Mark for you quick reply.

I purchased it from an AD, so I have the warranty.
Have you seen anything similiar before?

    Best regards,
    Gustav

My experience on the day date change is a bit different than Mark's. Some do change by 12:05 while others may not change until 12:30 or after. If the misalignment is very troubling , it can be adjusted. But, it may have a little variation. I would wait until your warranty is about to expire and then send it in for a complete look over. Until then, just enjoy your new IWC.

Thank you Bill for your reply.

Have you experienced that watches change date/day as late as mine - around 3 AM?
Does this imply that there is something wrong? Can it damage the watch..?

Personally I do not really mind the misalignment. I can actually manually adjust it per day.. if I slightly adjust it with the crown, seems like there is a gap somewhere since this is possible?

Thank you all for your input and comments.

I now also have a third question... please bare with me :)

Since my date/day changes at ~ 3AM. Is it still safe to adjust the date/day at 6AM/PM? As this is the standard I use for all my watches.

Hello Gustav, the date change deadline is based on the fact that the gears that change the date get meshed a couple of hours before the date changes. Changing the date when the gears are meshed can damage the gear teeth. In the caliber 75320 in your watch, the date should not be changed between 8PM and 2AM. Does your date start to change after 11PM and complete the change at around 4AM? or does it start the change after 3 AM and complete the change at around 4AM?

I do not think its normal for the date to change between 3AM and 4AM on your watch. Reading IWC's literature one can imply that the date for this caliber should normally change bewteen 12AM and 1 AM. See Page 19 of the manual:

    www.iwc.com/site_media/uploads/documents/manuals/2013/10/17/IWA50391_REF3910_eu.pdf

I think you should take it to the AD!

    Hope this help!

    Hi "Sumit",

    Thank you for your reply.
I will take your advice and take my watch to IWC in Dubai this weekend.

    Will keep you all updated.

    Many thanks!

There is a lot of misunderstanding regarding the date change blackout time.
It applies only to using the quick set function crown position 2. You can ALWAYS change the time and therefore date while advancing the hands ie in position 3

I hope you get the issue sorted out quickly by the AD

That is exactly what I meant (as is also stated in the manual for this watch).

    Hi Guys

I've just noticed the same with my Le Petit Prince Chronograph. I got it in May and since June is a 30 day month I thought id adjust the date in advance for tomorrow. The day changes more or less exactly at midnight but the date changes after 5am. I assume there is no way to manually fix this and that at some stage I'll need to go back to an AD? I bought it in the UAE but live in Ireland.

    thanks

    Mark
