I have an IW500501 Big Ingenieur, the original croc strap is worn out due to me wearing it in the shower.....I'd like to replace it with either the rubber strap from IW323601, which has a 46mm diameter case as opposed to the 45.5mm of mine, will it fit? Alternatively, I'd like the bracelet from the IW500505, which should fit straight on. Am I right in thinking the bracelet is straight swap, and that the 'Mission Earth' strap might fit?

The 5005 & 3236 bracelets differ...
I'm not sure of the differences, but the 3236 uses bracelet IWA37288 and the 5005 uses bracelet IWA26856. That leads me to think there may be differences in the straps, too.
However --the 44mm ref. IW3234 (Climate Action and Zidane models) use the same bracelet as the larger 5005. Those straps might fit --and also if the fit is that close you might find a dealer that has a 3236 in stock and you could try a strap there.
