Can anyone tell me how many of these were made?
As I have just bought one of the few remaining examples, an absolute beauty!
What was the anniversary these vintage models were made for?
IWC existed 140 years: 1868 - 2008.
Kind regards,
Paul
140 Year Anniversary commemorated with the beautiful Vintage Collection -
Pilot, Portuguese, Portofino, Da Vinci, Aquatimer and Ingenieur.
I agree. To me, this was the most interesting project by IWC in many years. Not only there were six iconic watches, but in the end there were four versions of them: stainless steel, rose gold, white gold and platinum, thus twenty four different watches. And the project indicated a surprise in direction too: instead of looking forward to some dazzling new design IWC looked back at its history, combined with the new technology: fantastic! I wonder who came up with this idea and made it come true: this person deserves a medal!
Kind regards,
Paul
Thanks for all your responses.
Can anyone tell me what level of accuracy can be expected from from the 98000 calibre movement (18000bph) version as used in the vintage and Jones calibre models yours experiences would be greatly appreciated?
I am wearing the watch shown the last few days. The movement is about +1 or +2 seconds a day, great! The whole watch is a surprise (again), beautiful with such a presence on the wrist, and so comfortable as it sits fantastic on the wrist, while it weights about nothing. I have a lot of great watches, this one belongs to a very select group of favourites.
Kind regards,
Paul
I absolutely love my one.

What magnificent and classic looking pieces these are. I envy those lucky enough to own one.
I'm only getting +10 secs a day with a power reserve of only 20 hours so have sent it in for a full service with IWC.
Watch back from service now running spot on +/-0secs per day absolutely amazing designed and originally produced 1939 some things just can't be bettered. Hats off to IWC!
Congratulations! This is one of the great watches by IWC the last 10 years. Enjoy it again.
Kind regards,
Paul
