IWC 3717 geneve watch??

Hi all,
Stumbled over an IWC 3717 classic, wich was obvious a fake (good one, but that is besides the point), the man selling it tried to convince me that it was a "Genève" model..Used by juwelers as a showmodel??
Has anyone heard about this BS, or is it indeed common for a jeweler not to have the real thing in their vitrines but these "IWC-Genève-watches".

It's all bull. Fake is fake. IWC does have non-working prototypes but they keep them in-house, and there are no retail show models, let alone with this name.
