They need a little help. I received an IWC ref 709A cal 8531 automatic two-tone watch. Is it possible that it is dark gold and silver or just gold plated? There are many pictures of the watch in the link

    Thank you the help

The IWC ref 709A cal 8531 watch is likely gold plated, not solid gold, given its two-tone appearance of dark gold and silver.

    Hi Omegavintage,

the IWC 709A is most probably a so called "mixte" model. The case is made of 14ct yellow gold combined with a stainless steel case back. This combination is not uncommon for IWC watches of that era. This combiation was used for many other refeferences also loike the Yacht Club Ref 911, the 910 as well ast the 766 Ingenieur.
