aren't we all ?
I got one!
But.... 2 things are confounding me -
1. How many positions does the crown pull out to? It seems only one which
stops the second hand - I want to adjust the date.. not sure how to do so.
2. It came on the Gay Freres "beads-of-rice" bracelet - and I don't
understand how to resize this bracelet - no cotter pins, no screws... nothing!
Anyone have any experience of resizing these bracelets?
Thanks in advance....
Congrats! Question 2 I can't answer, but with regard to setting the date
you 're correct:
- pull out the crown (second hand stops)
- (slowly) advance untill after 12 o'clock and the date changes
- at 00.15 hours (quarter past 12), carefull move the hands BACK to approx.
23.45 hs. (so quarter to midnight)
- slowly keep 'rocking' back and forth and you'll notice the date advances
each time you cross midnight.
- once the date is correct, move forward to the current time.

It appears that the clasp has 8 sizing holes that can be used to adjust the
length of the bracelet.
The pin on the right side of the clasp is actually a spring bar.
It does not appear that links can be added or removed easily if at all.
The problem I have is my bracelet is at maximum and is still a bit short for
my wrist.
I've seen at least two of these vintage GF bracelets with "extenders" that
fold in the clasp. I have never seen extra links.
I have a similar problem, with my large wrist. I had to sell a Ref 9386
Ingenieur, basically a gold Ref 666 with IWC gold bracelet, because the
bracelet was too short and impossible to wear, even with the extension. I
considered having additional links made, but the cost was prohibitive.
Thanks Mr Bob I shall give it a try! Is that method unique to these watches?
Yes... I noticed the adjustment holes on the clasp but was unsure if that was
the only way to size it - so then, I suppose these bracelets have a minimum
and maximum wrist size. That would be useful information for somone to make
public!
A few pics for you good folk!
I took it to a watch man who adjusted the strap for me - I have 6.5" wrists,
so on the smallest setting it was a tight fit. I asked him to open it up again
by 1 increment, and that was perfect for my wrist size. So I would say, 6.5"
is about the smallest wrist size you could have for these Gay Freres
bracelets.
