    Hi All,

II am trying to find more information on this vintage IWC, it is a cal. 87
tonneau shaped movement in a round case, which is quite unusual I believe. The
case seems to be gold but there are no markings/hallmarks on it. Have you
encountered this combination before, or can you help me find more information
on how this match came about?

    Thanks,

    Dan

I think this is a replacement case. Do you have a picture of inside the
    caseback?

The dial and subsecond register look odd as well

I agree, likely a repurposed movement. A gold-cased IWC would have hallmarks.

    Hi Dan,

    Others have been posted in the archives;

    Original?

The case filler around the calibre 87 movement you have shown has definite
machine/file marks that are less than professional. Combined with the dial I
    suspect it has been "reconstructed".

For the curious it is worth clicking on the "Cal.87 in a round case" in the
archive post above to see the watch dial. The watch movement is marked "HXB",
an American import mark and the case shown marked D&A for the Brooklyn based
case manufacturers , DiVincenzo & Arienti who did a lot of work for
    Omega.
A US import that was not cased by Cresarrow.

Unless the cases have IWC marks I strongly suspect they joined with the
    movement elsewhere.

    Cheers from the celler

Thank you all for your time and replies. I agree this is most likely a
recasing example, there are no markings on the inside (photo below).

Exellent and evidence based information by Greg Steer.

I wish we had more of this kind of experts on the forum.
