IWC calibre 52 18k gold pocket watch. More info?

I never been that much into watches but my grandfather used to collect em. A few days ago i went thru his collection and realized what amazing craftmanship is put into them.

Now i have been trying to find some information about the watches he had so here is what i could find out about his IWC calibre 52 18 k gold watch.

The case number is 437986 and the number on the movement is 406216. Acording to the serial it was produced in 1902-1910.

But what is the model's name and exact date and so on? Also would it be worth having it went thru by a watchmaker? I havn't decided if i should keep it or sell it so that i could get a wristwatch that i would be able to use more daily and if so how much would the value be?

The movement was produced in 1908

and was part of the first batch of 1200 movements produced in that year. It is a 19 ligne movement (approximately 42.9mm) with a height of 6.5mm.

These watches did not have a model name. If you intend wearing it occasionally I would have it serviced by a good watchmaker.

Given the condition I think it is a great family heirloom.
