My 15 year old Ingenieur has been lost (stolen) when being serviced by IWC. IWC have confirmed this. Firstly has anyone else had this happen to them and if so what did they do to resolve it?
This I might add was the final straw. The watch itself had been sent to Schaufhausen for a full service and refurb and when returned was gaining more time and the date was faulty. The watch was returned a number times to rectify the fault (in total 11 months).
Does any one have any similair experiences?
    Dave.

That does not sound like any of the exceptional >>

........stories I've heard here about IWC service.

Was it 'lost' in transit or while at the factory for service?

Was watch lost in transit from you to IWC?

If that's the case, then you are on your own, hope you had insured the package when mailing or dropping off at the carrier.

If AD was shipping the watch to IWC on your behalf and the watch was lost before reaching IWC, I would ask AD to compensate as AD should have insurance on all the packages they send.

If watch was lost at the local IWC service center after it arrived, or when IWC was forwarding the watch to Schaufhausen, or at Schaufhausen, then I would seek compensation from IWC.

    JMHO. Good luck.

    Need more details

I've had three watches "lost in transit" in the past 15 years. Each time they were insured (and replaceable). If your Inge (please tell us the model) is lost, hopefully, it can be replaced.

But don't give up. I heard a story recently about an Urban Jurgenson watch that was sent in for service and UJ realized that they had found a watch that was stolen 7 years earlier.

    Dear All,
It seems that it was stolen when in transit from the local service center to IWC Schafhausen.

Hi Larry, It was a 3521-003 - s/s, black face, gold bezel.
Seems like this isn't a one off.

    Dave, two things

I'm genuinely sorry for your loss. However, this does happen with fine watches, jewelery, etc. IWC didn't steal, misplace or lose your watch --quite possibly someone during the shipping process did-- perhaps an employee of the shipping company, although that's difficult or impossible to prove. There's very little if anything that IWC can do in such circumstances when they are not at fault, and it's a third party that takes your watch. That's why IWC and other watch companies have insurance.

Second, this forum has rules ---one of which is that service issues aren't a discussion topic (we ask people to read the rules before posting). One reason for this rule is that each situation can be unique and difficult to evaluate the facts in any individual circumstance. But for all the replies to your complaint, I'd normally ask that your post be removed. However, given the discussion, I would that any further comments be off-line. Feel free to e-mail me, if necessary, and others can reply to you by e-mail.

I'm sorry, again, about your loss, although there's nothing I or this forum can do. You'll have to go through IWC for insurance reimbursement.

    Thanks and good luck,
    Michael
