Would anyone be able to ID this please? It was given to my grandfather in 1957
and hasn't been used in 25 years. I understand that it's had a bad redial.

MasterIt is an IWC Cal 88, but we would need to see the movement to be 100% sure.
I think the hands are not original.What a lovely memory of your Grandfather.

a special tool to take the back off (my brother has it in the UK)? -

I have edited my response - 1957 makes it a Cal 88. Initially I went with the
1937 date, my mistake.the case has a snap back and can be opened with a case opening knife, but I
would not recommend doing it if you or your brother has not done it before. -
