Hi all, busy work schedule and family business took my time so I wasn't an active poster on the forum lately. But here we are again.
This afternoon we had Waregem Koerse in Belgium, it is in Belgium what the Ascot race is in the UK. I was lucky to be invited in the VIP area. A watch fitting for the occasion I believe, was my PPC ref 5021. Belgium is a small country and doesn't have yet a watch-culture as some other countries. Mostly Rolex is the brand seen on such events. So I tried to spot some IWC. And saw a guy wearing a Portuguese Automatic with silver dial and a gentleman with the Big Ingenieur Chrono DFB on his wrist. I gave him a compliment on his watch and he was surprised that someone noticed the brand. Then he saw mine and understood why ;)
Great to see that the efforts in advertising over here in different magazines has result for IWC and that the brand becomes more known amongst watch lovers.

Your PPC had to be a winner, but was the horse betting a winner for you?

I would net on the IWC being a success in Belgium - especially with you as an informal ambassador. You should get VIP invitations to all events.

Tonny, gone - but not forgotten! We sure missed you - but knew you were not far away.

...and a great way to "return home" with a superb article and the 5021 is indeed a great watch for a day at the races:-)

Thanks for the story Tonny. Your PPC is indeed the perfect watch for the races! With so many DFB fans here on the Forum, I wonder if the person you spotted wasn't a regular visitor? :-)

    Kind regards,

    Clemens

PS: so far I haven't spotted an IWC here in France during my holidays.

Bill, I had an insider tip in race 2, number nine, but the drive fell of his horse after only 50 meters run... Should have known ; never trust a guy with a quartz watch ;)

LOL. My experience as well. I've learned to stay away from the track. I lost 10 CHF at the "White Turf" races in St. Moritz one winter.
