    Hello this is my iwc ...although on the back it is clearly stamped jwc ..This
    was my fathers watch & has been in my possesion for many years ..i only wear
    it
    on special occasions & i know it takes a true watch conniseur to recongnise it
    ..& then it sparks a whole magicial conversation of which i dont know all the
    answers & therefore i would love to know the history of this watch i.e the
    year it was made value etc i would appreciate any info please many thanks in
    advance & a very happy new year to you all !!

    To me it looks like a pocket watch, the case scrapped, the movement swapped
    into a new custom made wrist watch case (a so called "marriage watch"). For
    sure not original.

    A marriage watch indeed - an original pocket watch movement cased in a newer,
    non-IWC case. If you can provide the serial number that is on the movement we
    can tell you when that movement was made. I am guessing the original case was
    likely scrapped for gold content long ago.

    The number on the movement is 244292 it is also stamped (jwc) do you know what
    this means please

    Any idea of value please ?

    The numbers indicate the movement to be an IWC calibre 53 from 1901. Even if
    it is fully operational, without the original pocket watch case it is of
    little value to a collector.
