Was fortunate enough to find an authorized dealer who still had one of the 1948 "Tribute to Mark XI" pilot watch pieces.  It's a real beauty.  Not a fan of the NATO, but a quick strap change and it's looking great, and it was no more expensive than the regular Mark XVIII models.

One question for the experts on the forum.  The back of the case says:  "One out of 1948"  There is no other numbering on the back relating to the limited edition.

It would be very cool to believe that I acquired Number One, the first piece in the limited run (1/1948), but suspect that's not the case.  I think I know the answer to this, but do ALL of them say "One out of 1948"??  So that phrase doesn't mean it's number one, just that it's one of the limited run?

    Thanks, Hokeybear

Hello and congratson your new beautiful watch.
You are right, the "one out of 1948"  is the same for all 1948 watches.
