Hello to all,
I have a question about an old timepiece.
Can anybody tell me if some Mark11 were given to the Canadian Royal AirForce CRAF in the 50'?
Many thanks.

Hi
I can tell you with certainty that the RCAF did not acquire the Mark 11.
There is, however, at least one RAF Mark 11 from 1952 with additional engraving GAF/57, which we presume is from the Ghana Air Force. Ghana became independent from the UK in 1957 and the MoD assisted the armed forces of this new country with expertise and materiel.
I have never seen or heard of a Mark 11 with additional RCAF engravings, but I learned a long time ago never to say never. It is, however, highly unlikely but not impossible that one or more Mark 11 from the RAF, the RNZAF or the RAAF, ended up quasi officially in the RCAF.
If you have or know of such a Mark 11, please post images.
Thanks for the info.
The seller isn't sure if was RCAF or another RAF. He's looking for the certificate and send me straight when his wife's mother find it.
These pics I got and looks ok to me.
There is nothing to indicate that Mark 11 had any connection with the RCAF.
It is a Mark 11 from the Royal Air Force or the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy from the 1952 batch, with the third generation Tritium dial.
It appears to be in very good original condition and the case appears to never to have been polished.
The movement may need a cleaning but otherwise it should remain as is.
It looks very nice. A movement service and it should be good to go.
Thanks!
How much for a movement service? And can every IWC does the service without sending the watch to IWC? I don't want to loose dial and hands.
Any competent watchmaker will be able to clean and oil a cal 89. It would be better if the watchmaker is accustomed to dealing with vintage watches.
Make sure you stress to the watchmaker that the Tritium based paint in the hands is over 50 years old and very fragile.
