    Dear members,
I am a modest watch collector and bought a marriage IWC.
This is for me the only way to get a beautiful and esteemed brand like IWC into my possession.
The next question has come up during a conversation i had with fellow watch admirers.
The watch i have bought has an export sign stamped on the back S&CO.
Is this a movement that may possess the IWC dial or is it made exclusive for third party watch brands who want to have a movement of high quality?
The number of the movement is 704444 and has no IWC stamps.
And i have seen these calibers with different kinds of IWC stamps.
So do the movements that have a IWC dial always bear IWC markings?
I hope someone can clarify this for me.
    Thank you in advance.
    Jacques

    Hi
We are usually reluctant to comment on "marriages", other than to disparage them. As a rule, these marriages destroy a good pocket watch to make a bad wristwatch.
However, other than a "marriage" your watch could be a pocket watch conversion into a wristwatch. The reason is the stamp S&Co, which may be an hallmark for English silver, usually not present in "marriages."
The movement is a cal 52 from 1918.
If you post images we will be able to give more info.

    Hello again,
Thank you for you input concerning the marriage watch despite the understandable reluctance.
I did a lot of reading concerning de S&CO and understand it is related to a english watch seller Stauffer who retailed in quality watches and the mechanics that came from IWC were not stamped with the IWC logos but instead the S&CO stamp.
The more my dilemma if my IWC is destined to live its life as a 3rd party watch because of the lacking from IWC stamps on the mechanic.
I am sure that it is a marriage from this period because the seller stated this.
I hope the photos are all right.
