IWC Portuguese Chrono uses ETA 2824 movement?

    Hi,

    just bought a Portuguese Chrono despite being told it does not use the inhouse movement and instead uses the ETA movement. Was just wondering what model of ETA movement does it use, 2824? The watches aren't exactly run of the mill and i'm pretty surprised a premium brand like IWC uses outsourced movements. Not exactly impressive to say the least but what do i know about watch economics.....

    The movement is based on Valjoux 7750, which IWC modifies quite extensively to convert it to a two register chronograph.

    It is not unusual for many high end watch brands to use non-inhouse movements on some of their models, especially chronographs.

    Enjoy Your Portuguese chrono, it is a very fine and stylish watch.
