    Hi

may I ask if anyone can shed some light about my IWC Port 2000. I brought it in for service in HK last January, It was losing time. being 10 years old, I thought it would be time for a movement service.when I rang them last week, they said that it was sent to Switzerland because they dont have the parts for it. My question is...

Do they normally send these watches to Switzerland for servicing as standard coz they dont service these type or models AT ALL in HK? or..

Is there something majorly wrong that they have to send it to Switzerland for servicing. MAybe due to not having enough technical knowhow?

How long does this kind of servicing take? And how much?

    TIA

    best

    Not unusual at all >>>

As is often said here on the forum, it is impossible to judge service issues here on the forum or predict what will or needs to be done or how long it will take to get your 2000 back into pristine condition.

Having said that, it is not unusual at all to have such a fine reference sent back to Schaffhausen for service. They are repository of parts for IWC's going back in time and they have the experts to work on them. You will be very happy with the quality of service you will get and it is worth the time, whatever that may be.

I recently sent in my 5001 and the turn around was three weeks, but that is no predictor of time. I had an older vintage one take six months.

So don't be concerned, you will have a wonderfully serviced Port 2000 back on your wrist. It will look like new.

good luck, also, generally service issues should be "off-line"

...at least the forum rules ask that individual service matters --pro or con-- not be posted. Among other reasons, every watch is "unique" in that the service costs, time and needs vary.

    Good luck on your repair.
