Some years ago I acquired an IWC box of parts for the calibre 52/53 pocket watches. These calibres had a very long run from 1888 (as IWC à view) to 1927 Cal 52/3T). So this box could be from any time between those dates. I presume it is early 20th century. A few of the containers are empty.
Have any of you seen a similar box? Any idea of date?

    Hi Alan

I have one of those boxes as well.

With respect to the shape of the IWC logo I guess yours is from the thirties.

    Regards

    Thomas

I had an exactly similar box but for 8541 caliber. I got it from a well known watchmaker in Angola who had plenty of Ingenieurs in his stach so I'm guessing that watchmakers would buy these in the old days for their repairing needs. Enjoy,
    Frederico

A great piece of heritage. Is the serial number on the depicted movement legible?

    Hi Mark

Well spotted. The number on the figured movement is 585229. That would make the box around 1913 assuming that they figured a contemporary movement.
