    Congratulations!

And what a coincidence! I recently acquired one as well. Mine is on a leather strap. It is on its way as I am typing...

    Congratulations!

That surely is a nice one! I also just got one, but it ran fast, so I sent it to IWC for servicing. Can't wait for it to come back!

Hi, quick question, is the dial new? I notice the "triangle" lights up so nice. Mine is not lighting up any more.

Unable to see the photos. Not sure if others are having the same issue.

Tonny...is it possible for you to post them. I really would like to see IWCUTC's Classic Pilot UTC. One of my IWC favorites.

    Many Thanks,

    Andy

    Edit Update:

All I see is small squares where the photos should be. I am traveling and working on a iPad. Any suggestions to see the pic's would be appreciated or If anyone can re-post the photos, I would be grateful.

    Best,

    Andy

    JK,

Awesome watch ! I think this Classic UTC is destined to be a collectors item if not already. It encompasses much of what made me appreciate the brand when I really started getting into watches. The font, hands, placement of the 24 hr. window not to mention the thick buffalo strap were the perfect ingredients to making this a real "Classic". Back in the late 90's to mid 2000's, IWC was producing some righteous pieces. So glad that I have been able to include some from that era in my collection. My hope is that with the recent change of leadership, IWC will draw from the past and again surprise us with beauties like the Classic UTC for example.

JK...not sure why some of us can't see the original posters photos and some can. Do you have any ideas why? Still would like if someone who can see the photos be able to successfully re-post. Can't get enough of the reference 3251 model.

Thanks for posting a wristshot of your UTC. Definitely a keeper IMHO !

    Cheers,

    Andy

Hey Guys, I am Jamie from Australia and I have just picked up this piece. I believe they were made from 2003-2010, can't find much info about it and most of the UTC's that you see have the TZU on the dial. The strap is just a little too tight so onto the nato it goes, I would love some extra info on it. Thanks in advance, J

    Hello Jamie,

The model that you just acquired  is the UTC "Spitfire" version. It was offered in both Black and Silver dials. @ 39mm , the Spitfire collection differed from the UTC "Classic" model in that it utilized applied vs. painted indices. The Spitfire and Classic's were produced around 1999 - 2006 . Originally, the UTC Classic was supplied with a Buffalo dark Brown strap and a Black or Honey-Tan contrast stitched croc strap for the Spitfire. As you mentioned, the Classic was inscribed with TZC ( Time Zone Coordinated ) on the dial. The Spitfires with their "dressier" face did not. The UTC window on the Spitfire's during certain production years was located either at the top like yours or in the bottom half of the dial.

IMO, both variations of the UTC Pilots have become attractive collector pieces in recent years. Back in those production years, IWC was making some awesome pieces in their collection lines. Those were great years for IWC offerings overall.

Looks good on the Perlon NATO and pairs well with so many other straps. Enjoy your new UTC...it's a beauty !
