    I have in my possession an IWC wristwatch which I believe to be 18ct gold. Calibre C401. Movement 1648953. Which I think was produced around 1962?

    I would be grateful for any information and ideas as to current price if on the market. The strap is not generic.

    Hi EBOCREW
    Your pic is not of sufficient quality to tell much.
    The black dial appears suspicious to me though.

    To tell anymore, better pictures are required is front, back and movement as well as some kind of context in which to judge the watch

    Hi there;

    Many thanks for that. I did take the watch into a couple of jewellers just to get their comments. They did not open the watch but like you thought the dial looked suspicious. In this light I took it to IWC in New Bond street. The comments of the master watchmaker there were quite encouraging and confirmed the details I posted previously. He recommended the watch go to Switzerland for intervention; lens, strap etc. So it has been posted I will take better pictures and give details on it's return.
    Thanks again

    Oh, good for you !
    I am glad for you - I myself have been visiting the same boutique recently and found them to be very helpful and encouraging.
