I landed in HK a few hours ago and found an opportunity to make a pilgimage to the flagship boutique. In terms of IWC pilgrimages, this one ranks next to Schaffhausen. Whilst I was there, the new catalogue arrived. I asked my host during the tour and he said they were still waiting. As I was leaving, it arrived. It should keep me occupied during the wait for the flight home tomorrow night. Boston and NYC next week.

The growing range of special editions was the most notable feature of my tour. Of the new Portuguese range, only the hand wound models had arrived.

I apologise for the poor snaps.

    Thank you very much

The pics are just fine, they show a lot.

The new hand-wound Portuguese are really nice. You must see them to know for sure, but I would go for the white dialled one, although the black one looks great too.

The AsPac is a 3227? Remarkable, how new was it?

Any more news about the special editions you saw?

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing steel VC Pilot's watch: did you see this one in rose gold?

    Hi Paul.

I had an hour in the boutique and didn't get an opportunity to spend as much time as I would have liked. I had a dinner engagement. I don't know the full details of the 3227 LE watch. It just looked very seductive. The LEs all had formal numbering ***/100. The point is that the boutiques have considerably more SKUs than the brochure. They need the LEs to play the role of a showcase and still compete against pricing in the nearby stores. I have been rather critical of LEs in the past but without them, the Flagship store and similar boutiques could not survive. It's a very smart way of stabilising pricing.

    Kind regards,

Ralph (wearing a CFI with full antimagnetic protection. Display backs simply won't cope with my travel schedule)

I like the Ingenieur. It would be even better with an outsized date.

    Rave,

When you mention the new line, the Portugese manual winds, so you have a reference number for the Black face, with the the White sub seconds?

    Bear
