This Sunday, October 26, Kurt Klaus, IWC great --and in my view a Swiss national treasure --turns 80. He's been a wonderful friend and indeed mentor to me and many other collectors.

You are a living legend in the watch industry and IWC is fortunate to have you as their senior watchmaker.
The master horological skills you possess are rare even within the top watchmakers in Switzerland. Moreover, the demeanor with which you reflect your knowledge serves as an example of being a true "gentleman and a scholar".
You have touched many lives in different ways and I, for one, will always be grateful to you for your teaching, training, and assisting me with difficult technical issues in servicing IWC timepieces.

I also fondly remember 2007 SIHH where I first me you. We were sitting next to one another on lobby computers in the HQ Hotel in Geneva. You took off your newly minted KK DaVinci and let me hold it. What a thrill.
