Should have the ref. number.
Post a photo like this to clarify it !!!
Thanks, Getting the watch in a few days. Seller claims that many of the early models of the Jumbo had no reference # in case back. I have had a few of the 1832 and always had a ref.# Could it be that case back was replaced in service?
Never heard about and never seen a 1832 without the ref. number yet ?!
Thanks much your comments!

This thread has interesting details about the case numbers

So, your 1832 is aprox. 1978.
No signs of ref. number manipulation so far.
But I would check authenticity contacting IWC.
Interesting thread!
Related to your comments on case no on both inside and outside... I've experienced that a watch that goes to Schaffhausen with the serial number only on the inside of the case back, comes back after service with the case number also on the outside.

I am not sure if this is just a new service, if the case has got a refrech ?!
Some years ago, some Ocean cases were blasted and the outher case numbers were blasted away but NO new engravings ?!
So, it could depend on the service team ?!
IWC CONFIRMED THAT THIS WATCH WITH THIS SERIAL NUMBER FROM 1978 came with no reference number in caseback
Thanks all for your help
I just obtained a DaVinci 3754 RG Rattrapante. Looking for an original box and Operating Manual, can anyone help?
