I'm not a great photographer, but this one turned out OK- and it reminds me about what a great watch the 3711 Dopplechronograph is to this day.

This  model was quickly replaced by the 3712, and it lost a couple of desirable things in that change; the domed crystal, and the tritium dial.

Based on the workhorse Valjoux 7750 movement, Richard Habring made this difficult complication design for IWC, back when 'tool watch' was all they did.  There are some interesting articles to be found on how Habring solved some difficulties using hypodermic needles to make space for two, instead of one, central axles thru the movement.

It's a super nice watch. I don't get why this watch seems to be a bit under appreciated outside the IWC collectors community. I think it's one of the best readable dials considering there is a lot going on. It's a beautiful piece. Thank you for sharing!

Nelson, we are om agreement.  The 3711 is one of IWC best and greatly underappreciated.  Mine says, hi.

/site_media/ckeditor_images/fd7c2c0c171c369fc4d53d0a58e71273.jpg Bill,  your help please. What is the name of  the bracelet on your  Doppel ?  Is that the one that just requires a couple of toothpicks to size ? And finally, what is your opinion about it's comfort and durability.

    Awesome  Doppel !!

    Thank You,

    Andy

A beautiful shot of a truly amazing watch that does seem to fly under the radar. The 3711 was actually replaced by the 3713 and originally also had the tritium dials. Interestingly, the 3713 dial did change from tritium to LumiNova sometime during the coarse of production but the dial change apparently did not necessitate a change in reference number. Here is my 3713 with tritium dial from 1997 - you can see the polished second bezel that makes up the height that had been provided by the domed crystal:
