The remains of my first IWC
bought in 1973.
As some may be aware, there were some issues with the 1816, I had one of those. After several floodings IWC exchanged it in a 1822. IWC was always professional, repaired it several times with no charge and finally exchanged it.
I never regret that purchase and that kind of service is unforgotten. Ended in several IWC's, so it paid off for them? (those are not making it under the shower, do you blame me for that?)

Not my first- but like you one of my favorites
Nad, and I guess it will stay there in your collection! I too own a GST in stainless (as well as one with a black dial in titanium) and to be honest - love this watch. It still gets serious wrist time - and returned this week from Schaffhausen where it went for a service. Was in great shape - nothing wrong, but I felt it needed some looking after at the highest level - that's how much I like this watch.
BP 500401
Walked into a dealer who happened to have one there, tried it on and that was it!
A Portofino (white dial on a bracelet)
Lord, that was a long time (and many watches ago). Then I found the vintage Ingenieurs. And I've never looked back.
Best,
Larry
Mark XV
I bought it in 2007 and I think I like it more every day...

Just curious --what's your first IWC?
It was a 3707 Ti... Which I totally loved until they announced Deep One...
Started with a mark xv back in 2001
It was a great start and I only sold it to fulfill another IWC dream. A little bit of a headache still but no regret.
IWC is my brand since then and will ever be.

Ref. 3713 Doppelchronograph in 2000.
Just curious - anyone winning here? (nt)

Mine a GST PPC Titanium!... April 19 was my birthday, to bad I didn't see the post until now... anyway, the GST was a gift! The ex-owner is my father's best friend and partner, he traded it with me for a Polar watch I was wearing that day!!! I said... I love IWC I'm working hard for one... and he said lets try each others on... then he said... you know what, I'll keep yours, keep the IWC I know you are a big fan... I couldn't believe it!... thats my story.
Greetings!

What a super gift, terrific story

Thanks Paul! I Think is a lucky charm because since that day projects are flowing (I'm an architect).
I saw your post... actually I became a fan of IWC in the Porsche design Era!... my mother took me one day to Berger Joyeros here in México to watch the IWC's, I was 15 years old I think... now 34!
Cheers!

Just curious --what's your first IWC?
My first was the IWC Portofino Midsize stainless steel that I purchased from Tourneau 2 years ago. I was looking for a simple dress watch and I fell in love with this watch. I eventually caught the IWC bug and wound up buying 2 SS 5001 (07 and 09), a Mark XVI and the previous Aquatimer!

My first IWC was GST cronograph and followed with Romana in gold
First IWC watch...
Well I bought 2 first watches from a collector friend . I could not decide which I prefer so I bought both the black fliegerchronograph and GST chrono titanium. The only problem is I can t wear them both at the same time!
best wishes,
Goran
I've contacted the winners by e-mail...
...since there are only three winners and since I was a little late (having to go out of town). I didn't see the need for a public announcement given these circumstances.
Just curious --what's your first IWC?
I know this is late but I've been gone and then busy trying to catch up. My first IWC was a PD Compass which I purchased in 1989 or 1990. I was impressed with the styling and compass function on a mechanical watch.
