    Hi all!
Just bought this deck watch and can see via this page www.knirim.homepage.t-online.de/iwccal67e.htm
That it was meant to be part of a lot of 200 watch delivered to Gerl Schipper from October 12 - Oct 25, 1944.
My concerns are regarding the lack of the probus stamp inside the case back and the fact that the engraving on the back of this one is different to the earlier one i used to own, i don't ever recall seeing another with engraving like this which looks a bit smaller that usual. What do you guys think? The serial numbers on the case back and the inner case back are both identical and i can see that the same stamp has been used to do both numbers because of irregularities in the fond of the first number one. The inner and outer case back seem to fit perfectly, but something does bother me about the originality of both case backs. Does anyone else on this forum have a watch from the same batch?
I have blanked the center logo so not to offend.
    Thanks Michael

    Interesting....

    Hi Michael,

I have a watch from the same Schipper lot that has been doctored, so much so that there is no K.M. on the dial and no National Socialist engravings on the back. I understand that a lot of these cases were changed from time to time (in my example after the war for military use). If I recall they were not cased in Schaffhausen in the first instance.

Your watch looks completely authentic to me, but the case and its number clearly aren't part of Schaffhausen production. Still, I'm not a real expert here and would suggest that your e-mail Herr Knirim. He has participated on this forum and is an old "internet friend" --I think he'd be glad to help you, And he is the undoubted expert.

    Regards.
    Michael

    Interesting....

    Hi Michael!
I have noticed on other iwc deck watches that the probus stamp is just above the case back serial number but this watch doesn't have that. I also noted that the first number 1 is a little misshapen on my serial number, see close up below.

I have also noted this same misshapen number 1 on another IWC pocket watch from around the same era

Has anyone else seen this on IWC pocket watches?
    Thanks Michael

I did, infact the serial number you posted>

    is mine. :)

Congrats on a great aquisition, I'm intrigued by the dial, it looks bitonal but I have no memories of bitonal dials for KM dw, probably due to my little knowledge.

    Regards,

    roberto

Here's another one with the misshapen number 1 and it is also without the probus stamp. I'm feeling a bit better now about the originality of the case backs.

Hope your not angry that i used you picture as a example.

P.S The dial is all white but the middle part has a bit of a texture while the outer part is smooth so the light makes it look a slightly different colour.
    Thanks Michael
