    Hmmmm. let me try:

Yours is missing the red accents on the hands because it was a limited edition release, circa mid/late 2006, just before the Top Gun edition release.

Its a ref 3786, same calibre 79230. I bet the back doesn't have the TOP GUN logo engraving too. Can I see, can I see ??? lol.

    SC: I salute you ! imagining a 5-plane F-16 fly-by :)

Paul: I can't see Martijn's pics either, in this or other posts. I am using Chrome and Windows 7 - but in any case the link leads to an "unauthorized" response so it may just be a matter of privacy settings ?

There are some nice pilots here which is a gap in my collection. I notice though that not one UTC.
I have two pilots under consideration both limited editions

    A Chrono Laureus stainless edition
    And a Platinum UTZ

The price of the latter is approx double the Chrono.

Any advice re these two would be welcome! The appeal is the blue dial colour.

Greg, do u mean the Laureus Classic Pilot 3717-12 and the Platinum UTC 3251-03 ?

I think the 3717-12's blue dial makes it very very cool - reminds me of my first Seiko many years ago, and I was very tempted to source for this piece after first sighting it, but settled for the TG 3799 in the end, with the more unique double-chrono third push button.

But for me the Platinum UTC 3251-03 really reaches out to me, because of the pics I've seen, and what I imagine it would feel like in my hands (I have not come across one in the flesh yet). I think this is a limited 500 pieces ?

Below are pics (not mine) for ease of reference. do correct me if they are not the two you are referring to :

Shing, you are correct in the two watches. My thought was that the chrono could have a steel bracelet for summer wear. The platinum was never offered with a bracelet and even if it was available would be horrendously expensive as I believe volume for volume platinum is 20% heavier than 18ct gold. That prohibits a bracelet and I am not going to put a steel bracelet on a platinum watch as the bracelet would damage the platinum lugs even if the platinum/steel combo colour matched or suited one another.

We shall see if either falls my way!
