Monopusher Chronograph Big Pilot Petit Prince arrived

Some things happen unexpectedly. I was playing around with the thought of
getting a mono-pusher chronograph quite a while (you remember, Tonny, don't
you ;-) Portofino never was a line I was too frenzy about; for the portuguese
laureus it was mainly the glass back I was missing. And then, as an owner of a
Big Pilot Petit Prince I was a little bit frustrated when I got to see the
monopusher incarnation - because it was so nicely made, but also somehow too
similar to watch I already owned take this one into consideration.

I thought.

Well, then I wanted to see some of the IWC in flesh, and by chance also this
watch was in Zurich at the IWC Flagship store. It was already reserved and
gone after some days - but I am sure you know the feeling when a watch starts
spinning in your head. This one did, much to the regret of my bank account.
Supported by Mr. Grainger-Herr or not (who replied to me on Instagram), I got
the call yesterday, that one last piece had arrived in Zurich.

Congratulations! I would also like one of these and at this moment, the IWC-
Concierge is trying to get one for me...they are rare and seeked after it
seems...

much that you say regarding the monopushers (the backside is a delight to
behold - I wonder if an etched sapphire caseback for the Laureus Portugieser
was considered) - this is the one! Enjoy!

I just got conformation from the Concierge, there's one for me too!!! After
the Boutique said, they were sold out, the Concierge managet to get one for
me. It will arrive at the End of April.

First, I was not very interested in this watch, as I had already the original
limited Big Pilot LPP (IW500908) with a dial that looks very similar, except
of course
that it has the Power Reserve indicater instead of the Chronograph elements.

I loved this watch and have many great memories with it, so I never thought to
sell it. But then, I got in contact with someone who really loved this model.
He works in the tourist business and years ago saw a foreign tourist wearing
it and since then, he is on the Hunt. He even bought similar watches (for
example Saint-Exupery), but never really got happy, as these were not the real
thing for him. So, I decided to make him happy and get myself an "upgraded"
Version of this stunnig timepiece -> WIN-WIN ;-)

Very funny, Philipp, and congratulations! We share the same experience. I
still own the BP LPP though - but I consider to sell it. On the one side, the
watches are similar, but other aspects they are different. Maybe I will get a
classic 5002 someday instead.

Huge congratulations on this beauty! A week before Christmas I went to the IWC
Boutique in Amsterdam to pick up a watch that got back from service and they
showed me this BP LPP Monopusher and I was immediately sold and reserved it on
the spot. Even though the service on the watch was free, this was not a cheap
trip to the Boutique after all :-)

Anyway, I wanted to choose a moment between Christmas and New Year to pick it
up but then we went into lockdown (again...) and things got delayed but on
January the 22'nd I managed to go pick mine up and as you know, it's a
stunning watch!

I also love the lume on this one!

Anyway, I hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine.
