Tilo, sadly my pictures of this particular model turned out quiet badly. This being said, it is indeed a very impressive and stunning watch.

Honestly when I'd first seen the pictures I wondered if an annual calendar would work together with the strong Pilot look and it really does work really well. A very cool and handsome watch.

This watch I liked already when I first saw it but it's growing on me every day. My absolute number one in the new Pilot's collection!!!

Every watch family needs a model that is a bit over the top, a kind of fantasy about luxury with a slight connotation to the original roots of the watch family. The Portuguese has the Sidérale, the Aquatimer the Digital Perpetual Calendar, and now the Pilot's watch the Annual Calendar. While these are very special and beautiful watches, they are not the first ones to think about when considering a new watch. I once thought that the Aquatimer Digital is not to be used as a diver's watch, but has a role at the cocktail party with the rich and famous at your yacht in Monte Carlo. Nothing wrong with that, by the way. And these watches are front runners, to show what you can as a brand, very admirable!

I wouldn't compare the Annual Calendar to a Siderale.
And I see the Top Model in the Pilot's Line in the Perpetual Calendars.
But this edition is so beautiful and well balanced and not just stands for its complication. The complication is just one side of the medal. The other side which is more essential to me, is the perfect beauty and balance to a very substantial subject, the Petit Prince, which is interpreted in an absolute beautiful manner and at least from the front side of the watch very understated. Unfortunately it is very limited which makes it for me probably impossible to get one because I cannot afford in the near future. But hey - never say never and that's what dreams are made of. ;-)

You are right about the complication, where the perpetual calendar stands higher than the annual calendar. But this Pilot's Annual Calendar has a golden case, where at the moment there is no Pilot's Perpetual Calendar with a golden case. The only other Pilot's watch in the current collection with a golden case is the Big Pilot Spitfire with the ardoise dial: a stunning beauty too.

What I meant with top model and over the top was the combination of a precious metal case and an advanced complication, where the definition of a tool watch is stretched beyond its limits. Here I meant the watch you like so much. By the way, there is nothing wrong in stretching these limits, it stimulates one's fantasy and longing, an emotion so well described by you. It helps IWC to be the company it is right now.

The dial is amazing! The way the blue seems to change depending on the angle while viewing the different pics really makes for beautiful eye candy! Stunning watch!
