After months of thinking and research I finally got my first IWC, 1 day before I turn 25!
The IWC that caught my eye was the IWC Portugieser Chronograph, at my first visit to iwc.com my eye was caught by the IWC Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph! What an amazing watch!

After that I did my research on almost every model, but I always got this special feeling in my stomach when I saw the YC again.

Then the research for the best price and place to buy the watch started. I have to say that the watch business is a difficult business. There is so much crap out there and people selling expensive watches as 'new', but when you take a look at it, it's just anything but new. Therefore I finally decided that I just wanted something good! So I finally bought my watch with an AD in Amsterdam (Reuter Diamonds). The staff was very knowledgable (although they couldn't tell me something new about the watch of course ;-), but their help was very good and they were very friendly!

    Here it is:

I finally have my first IWC and I definitely feel it's not my last! I'm SO proud of it! This is going to be one of the best birthdays :-)

    Welcome to the Forum!

The YC looks great on your wrist. I'm guessing it won't be your last IWC, especially if you hang around here! :-)

    Congratulations on a great choice.

    Thanks for the nice words!

I just heard a great comment from a colleague about the sharpness of the dial: it's like looking at a retina display :-)

Especially the silver dial looks great in the sun, it has so much different views (it's definitely not a white dial, it's 'silver'-ish).

Hi. I'm new to IWC and new to the forum...

I'm just about to purchase my first IWC, a Spitfire Chronograph. It's a pre owned, but unused 70th anniversary edition, complete with all paperwork and a very impressive box!

This'll be the first time in nearly 30 years that I have moved away from Rolex...

I'm sorry to admit that my knowledge of this watch is embarrasingly poor,(I just fell in love with it) though i do know a little more about the brand!

Can anyone direct me to a review of the watch, or can anyone provide me with a brief overview of the model?

I also want a spare strap - any thoughts on where best to purchase one that isn't silly money?

    Thanks

Congrats Rickmur - so much to celebrate - the 25th birthday, to have joined this great IWC forum, and to top it off, a brand new gorgeous IWC watch!!

You are off to a very good start, and may I say at a good age as well - that is an impressive 25th year way of getting into IWC - I hope we will see and hear more from you in the future!
