sorry my low knowledge but I still don't understand the function "bar" on my Ingenieur double chronograph I asked to the dealer when I bought but I thinks he was confuse more than me;-)) can someone explaine for what need?

So first post here and First IWC last week. Inspired by another post here and on a trip to Abu Dhabi invested in a Petit Prince Chronograph. Have a dropbox photo here. Hope you like...
