I just consider them as my lucky charm, a clover four. Looking at them softens the focus of my eyes, perfectly represented in this picture.

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing rose gold Saint Exupéry Chrono

    Great collection Paul....

... just wondering why the plain and elegant 5001 is missing. The white gold version would fit in eloquently ,-)

    Regards

    I often thought about it

But I always put it in the same class as the Perpetual Calendar, and so I never did it, not wanting to repeat myself. I am not consequent in this way, having two VC's. But here I really was overwhelmed by their beauty. Seeing the rose gold one in Shaffhausen last year didn't leave me in any doubt that I had to have it, without loosing the black steel one. And I am thinking about the new one, the white dialled Portuguese with the grey subdial. Wait and see...

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing rose gold Saint Exupéry Chrono

    Lovely collection Paul!

If I had to choose between three musketeers or four Portuguese, the choice wouldn't be hard :-)

    My four Portuguese

Paul, I followed this / your collection recently, and there is more as I added myself the "small one", in rose gold to my own collection (actually my wife's one!!), which was actually your 1st Portugieser and even IWC if I remember correctly.

When I have met you the for the 1st time, it must have been in 2000 or a bit earlier, business meeting, not really ready for friendship, as an internal auditor (read:Rob) is not always very welcomed by our so-called "client" (read:Paul) at the time being (times have changed drastically)

Still, at that time in 2000, it was my own 40th anniversarry, and my wife had promised / actually we bought together my 1st IWC, the Portugieser Chronograph 3714-01 in 1999, which I used at home but not outside prior to my 40th birthday. But I was wearing it when I met you business-wise.

And what I remember is that our 1st interview/discussion soon was influenced by the 2 of us looking at each others watches, I was admiring your golden small portugieser, and you noticed my portugieser chronograph. Soon our discussion deviated from the real subject to the more subjective and emotional subject of watches.

Oh my God, I do like thinking back at that time. I guess, since then, we acquired some more timepieces, and the same applies for me as for you, I have never sold one yet.

Ciao, Rob. Thanks for sharing the picture.

Small was beautiful in those days

    Hi Rob,

Yes, those were the days, I remember our meeting. Your and my company were well related, as were your and my department, except when you did the job you had to do. Hmm, nice memories.

I remember I noticed your watch first, that was really big and present about ten years ago. I had bought my small rose gold Portuguese Automatic for my 50th birthday, and it was actually my third IWC: after the titanium quartz Porsche Design Ultra Sportivo and the titanium quartz GST Chronograph: who said that titanium did not sell? After that, my taste for small watches changed dramatically as I had to have that Portuguese Perpetual Calendar. Being accustomed to that watch, the other fairly big watches were easy, I only had to like them.

Any visits to Groningen on your planning? I buy you a nice dinner then, we show our newest, nicest watches, and have a lot to talk about, I am sure.

    Kind regards,
Paul, wearing steel VC Pilot's watch, such a powerful watch to look at
