I joined the IWC forum several months ago and for most of that time have been waiting for a Vintage Collection Aquatimer. Three months is not a long time really. Except that those of us here measure time in watch years and by that measure it can seem an eternity. Fortunately, today the wait ended when the UPS man brought the watch to its new home. I'm finally a member of the IWC club.
My day started at 12:45AM when I left to meet a friend for a hike to the summit of a nearby mountain so that we could take sunrise photos. It was a beautiful night and an even better dawn. After taking many photos, we hiked down, had breakfast and then I headed home to collapse. After arriving home I checked my email and found a wonderful surprise -- UPS was scheduled to visit, I hadn't expected them until Monday.
So a large part of my day was spent sitting on pins and needles waiting for the doorbell to ring. Fortunately the Olympics helped me pass the time. Unfortunately, women's beach volleyball had already concluded but there are worse burdens to bear.
I know you've all seen the VC AT many times but you haven't seen MY VC AT so I'm going to bore you with some photos. Please excuse the poor quality -- I was in a hurry. I'll post "glamour shots" soon.
The box, so familiar to many of you. My kids wanted to know why I bought an IWIWA.
It's just the case but presentation is important.
And there it is, a thing of beauty.
Building the suspense before I finally try it on.
The money shot. Looks right at home there if I say so myself. Excuse the clothes, I hadn't yet changed out of some of my hiking gear.
And finally, the way my day started and the reason I was wearing hiking gear.
Thanks for looking and thanks for being co-enablers to help make this possible. :)
