My new 3717 gains 9 seconds a day

Hello all,
I am a new member of this forum and am pleased to be part of it. I have just received my new 3717, which I am very pleased with. I love the dial and the case, and I find the watch extremely attractive. However, it is gaining 9 seconds in 24 hours. Do you think this a problem and that I should send it back to be regulated, or is this 9 second gain something normal that I should accept?

First of all, congratulations and welcome!

Welcome to the best IWC forum in the world and congratulations on your 3717. Since you write that you just got the watch, I suggest you wear it for about a month or so and check the timing again. Often, watches need a bit of 'break in time'. It is quite possible that the watch will settle at a bit lower speed.

In the meantime, enjoy your watch and keep in mind that 9 seconds per day still means it's 99,98958333 % accurate!

on your new IWC! 3717 is a great watch, the most accurate watch I've ever had, I agree with Clemens, perhaps I'd wait a little less but it's possible the movement needs some time to find its regular pace. 9 seconds could be fine for another watch but not for the caliber your flieger hosts, you'll see, it will give you a lot of satisfactions.

I suggest to use it in every conditions, treat it bad! It's simply tough like a rock :)

Another thought is that the watch may have been 'magnetized'. there are mini-magnets everywhere, from your phone to your phone pouch!

Mine came down from about 7-8 seconds....

to settle at 3-4 per day, after about 6 weeks. So as the others say here - where it, use it, enjoy it - and see where you are in about 6-8 weeks from now. If then still running shy, take it to the AD.

Thank you all! I must say, this is a very friendly forum. I am cetainly going to take your advice and wait.
As far as the possiblity of the watch being magnetized, I would think that this is unlikely to happen because the watch is well protected against magnetism by the inner soft iron case.
Funnily enough, I also have a 60 year old vintage IWC Caliber 89 (the Panzer), and this watch gains only 3 seconds in 24 hours!
