My old Ingenieur 766AD is back from service. I'm really impressed by what they can achive in Schaffhausen.
This silver dial is my favorite.

My number one! One more picture and some info.
I’m slowly learning URL…
Yes the watch now looks like new. When I sent it in for service/restoration it was not functioning and the stem/crown was bent. I was actually worried that IWC would not accept it for restoration. But as you can see it is now in perfect condition again.
It is an 766AD with c.8531E case gold 14k with steel back, age 1960-61.
I have the original box, tag with reference, casing and movement number and the original buckle (I think). The buckle is rather simple, gold plated with no IWC loggo. Anyone having an original buckle to show!?
But the most important for me is a receipt from 1966 when the watch was completely overhauled, damaged parts replaced, gold case restored and new crystal with magnifying bubble fitted. The total cost including shipping was only 64 FRS! The reciept is signed by H.E Homberger. This kind of information gives the watch a sentimental value to me.
In my view the magnifying bubble does not look so good on this watch as it comes too close towards the center, maybe better on a c8541. So, I’m happy they selected a normal crystal this time.
Restoration at IWC was a natural choice for me as I think it is my responsibility to keep it in a as good condition as possible for the future. I will of course keep the new receipt for future owners and also wear the watch, on special occasions.
Would be nice to see more Ingenieurs in the forum!
Thank you for reading
Lars
