It was a real privilege & pleasure to visit Schaffhausen back in Nov. 2007 and to be able to see the prototype of the, now called, VC Collection and its gratifying to see how well they have been received with demand outweighing production.

One thing the visit did do, however, was to encourage me, being an IWC vintage fan and collector, to seek out and put together a set representational of the originals; the thinking was that the new ones would be easier to obtain anytime in the future. And so the idea was born

Its only recently that I have been able to complete the set in acquiring the final piece, the Da Vinci Electronic with the Beta 21 movement - it has taken me almost a year to source the correct one - correct, that is, in being a good true example.

I guess now a new challenge would be to put the new VC alongside the old versions. Ironically enough the first of the new set I would add would be the Da Vinci. The more I look at it the more I warm to it and it would be great as a daily wearer.

I hope you enjoy these, even if you do prefer, as I am sure many will, the newer versions.

One thing does remain constant however - new or old - its evident that the IWC beacon of quality continues to shine brightly?

    Enjoy

bravo for assembling the first part of the story.........I presume only IWC are the only ones to have made the Original and Hommage partner set.

A super photo of 6 IWC greats.

    Its been difficult..........

letting some pieces go as you can imagine but at least I have had the pleasure of having them in my collection for a while.
As been said before we never actually own them - we are just custodians and of course there is nothing more constant than change.

    Regards

    a seminal collection...

    Hi Ivan,

It's more than juts having the originals of each Vintage Collection model, it's also that you have the first model, I think, of each of IWC's product line.

In that regard, is your Da Vinci a Ref. 3501 (old numbering)? There were several iterations of this model, and I'm wondering if you have the first. Even within the numbering, there were later dial versions if I recall (I ask because of the dial in the photo).

Also, in the "picky" department, I think you mean October 2007, but perhaps you were referring to something else.

In all events, this is a great collection. My compliments.

    Regards,
    Michael

Very cool collection, and it just seems so...

... easy to have these together, that one tends to forget what amount of effort has been behind the actual gathering of these beautiful pieces.

    Just wonderful !

    Ciao, Rob.
