    Hello everybody,

I am currently looking for a vintage IWC to be in a companionship with my Portuguese 7 days.

However, I do not very well know vintage IWC timepieces and I need your professional thoughts and views on these two models:

    www.chrono24.fr/iwc/international-watch-coschaffhausen-classic-larger-size-1946s-steel-watch-cal-c83-top-condition--id7136054.htm

    www.chrono24.fr/iwc/international-watch-coschaffhausen-calatrava-larger-size-1943s-steel-watch-cal-c83-top-condition--id7056730.htm

It seems that watch dials are authentic when reading adverts but I have some doubts regarding :

    • the lack of patina of the first one;
    • the "swiss" reference on dials bottom since I did not find any similar references on old IWC catalogues I could find on the web.

Could you please help me ?

Sorry for my "bad" english and thank you very much.

    Kind regards,

    Julien

    Hello Julien
    Welcome to the Forum.
You have posted 2 links to the same watch that I can see.

All I can say, is WOW that’s a beautiful watch!!

All appears original to me. Perhaps it has sat in a dry safe for most of it’s life or the dial is a factory replacement and therefore still original/genuine. I would love to hear the opinions of our resident experts who know Cal. 83 better than me.

Thank you for your reply Mark.

These watches seems similar but are different (not the same patina on the dials and on watch hands).

Moreover, not the same year of production ;)

I would say with a very high degree of confidence that the dial is NOT original. Even if it had spent its life in a drawer, the lume would not appear so new. At best it is a factory replacement, but is more likely to be a third-party relume and/or redial.

Also, I do not believe the crown to be original.

    Regards,

    Tony C.

Originally I thought it was only one watch and Yes I agree with Tony. The pic I examined was the second one, with distinct aging on the hands and lume plot degradation on the dial.

The first watch is too pristine.
