    Hi All,

I would be grateful for any further info re a unusual large half hunter trench watch, Case numbered 797129,with mark of CN,Movement carries serial number of 638947,also marked Peerless,Stem Wind, also marked S&Co,under crown, The movement with pull out lever at 4 position for changing hands. The date your iwc app , shows a date of 1916 for movement, case produced resp 1923 ? Watch measures approx 38mm across, seems a period of 7year rather long time for movement to be finally cased? Was this normal practice for movements shipped to uk?

Hello and welcome to the forum. There is often a difference between the year the movement is dated and the making of the case. Not Always 7 years though, but as you say, it could be correct when shipped to the UK that there was more time in between. Maybe some experts here could confirm this.

    could anyone help me thx
The watch was retailed by Hamilton & Inches of Edinburgh and the dial bears their name.  The movement is stamped "S&Co" and "PEERLESS".  The watch look to be an IWC calibre movement but not 100%.

The watch is 32mm and would probably have been intended as a man's watch but could be a man's or woman's watch today quite easily.  The lug/strap size is small compared to a modern man's watch at 12mm.

As you would expect from S&Co. this is a high quality item.  Beautiful half hunter case with enamelled outer chapter ring.

Signed, hand wind PEERLESS S&Co. lever set movement.  It looks to me to be in an IWC Cal. 53 movement (not 100% sure which model) but I am not an expert on movements so may not be although I know S&Co. and IWC do have links.  I have included good, clear photographs of the movement so that you can decide for yourselves./site_media/ckeditor_images/3833952ca57b220d882226cbcbc62008.png
