New 3777 and aftermarket deployant

Let this be one more post about the merits of the IWC Pilot Chrono and one more proud IWC owner who battled back and forth between the 3717 and the 3777. For me, though I may be in the minority of Pilot Chrono aficionados, the 3777 won the battle.

I love the dial (and pretty much everything else) of the 3717, but the size and particularly the more vertical bezel shape of the 3777 just seemed to fit my wrist and my style a bit more. I still question my decision sometimes, particularly when I see a photo of a 3717 off of my own wrist, but I'm more than happy with my choice.

Also, I can not recommend the product and ESPECIALLY the personalized customer service of Bob Davis over at --------------. I was looking for a deployant clasp for the stock IWC leather strap and several forum members recommended his products. Not only is the clasp excellent, but Bob called me about a half hour after I placed the order to be sure I was getting exactly what I needed.

Great service, great products, and I love my 3777! Forgive the dark pics, I'll take some proper ones later on.

Skizza, I think that is a great watch/strap combination, congratulations. I particularly like that thicker strap, BP style without rivets.

I completely understand - thanks for the edit. I don't have any affiliation with Bob other than this one experience, but it was one worth mentioning to the forum.

Thanks. The rivets never really did anything for me. I'd also like to pick up the Kevlar strap from the Top Gun. That might be my next purchase and I think it would look great on this watch.

You will indeed be very happy with the Kevlar ( which is actually Nylon ) Top Gun. I have it on my 3717 and really think it pairs perfectly with the Pilot Chrono's. Since IWC retained the 21mm lug from the 3717 to the 3777, another drop dead combo is the Buffalo St. Exupery ( ref.21700 I believe ) as a brown option to add to the mix. These two IWC straps along with your current Black Chroc with give you a nice variety to choose from.

Enjoy your new Pilot, she's a beauty. Please don't second guess your choice. Both the 3717 and the 3777 offer spec's and design to satisfy almost everyone. Most importantly, they're IWC's and are recognized as iconic in the world of Pilot watches.

So what's next on the Wishlist?

Thanks for the suggestions, Andy. I do want to pick up a brown leather strap for this 3777 at some point soon, but I believe the nylon Top Gun strap will come first.

As for my next timepiece, I had my eye on the Portuguese Yacht Club before I fell in love with the Pilot Chrono. Lucky for me the Pilot was less than half the price! That's what I call a win/win. I still love the YC, though, so that may be a future IWC purchase.

Outside of IWC there is a Breitling Transocean and an Omega Seamaster that have caught my eye. We'll see which direction I go next...
