Hi there - I fell in love with the look of this watch, and know the caliber 8541 to be excellent - but I am having trouble identifying anything else about it. There are similar pieces marked Ingenieur, but not this one. If anyone can help tell me a bit about the watch I'd be really grateful.
It's so hard to get information about what it should look like - not asking you to authenticate, but does it all seem as it should to you? I have a couple of new IWCs, but this is my first toe-dip in the vintage market so I feel a bit vulnerable!
By the way, just looked at your Instagram. Beautiful!
Looks great - as was saif the case has had a decent polish but thats being really picky. Its a bit apart from the other "calatrava" style IWC cases, if its an 847 it should be the jumbo 37mm case instead of the usual 34-35mm they are found in. The bracelet it is on is also quite rare - an early iwc Gay Freres with the correct "I" stamped endlinks. Nice find!
Thanks - they have buffed away quite a lot of its 50 years of life, I know!
Thanks for your comments. Very interesting and helpful. And you’re right - it’s 37mm which is big for it’s time. i hadn’t appreciated the rarity of the bracelet, so i’m Now even more chuffed!
