IWC have released a new Big Pilot special edition - commemorating the 80th anniversary of IWC's first ever pilot watch the 1936 Spezialuhr für Flieger (Special Pilot’s Watch).

The Big Pilot's Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition "A Tribute to the 1st IWC Pilot's Watch" IW503802 comes in a solid red gold case with a diameter of 46.2mm, a slate-grey dial, and two of my favourite features: individual numbering and raised markers.

    Special features include:

-18 carat rose gold rotor engraved "36" to reference the limited edition size and the year of the first ever IWC pilot's watch

-Orange tips to the arrows in the sub-dials

-Blued screws visible through the see-through sapphire-glass back

The watch is exclusively available at the IWC Boutique in Amsterdam and selected IWC partners within the Benelux and Scandinavia.

This is the 5th addition to the stable of exclusive single-moon Big Pilot Perpetual models. Click on any of the photos below for more photos. Love the orange tips!

Great watch, but I'd prefer smth different as tribute to Spezialuhr fuer Flieger, more close to the original one.

This truly is a luxurious natural beauty, fitting the celebration of the Pilot's Watch. What would be a nice idea is to sell it for the price of the first Pilot's Watch, to emulate a peaceful war to obtain one of the watches.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

Lovely Big Pilot and great photographs. I am a little bit puzzled about the LE of 36. The watch in the rotor picture is numbered 00/36. If the numbering goes all the way to 36/36 I suppose there will be 37 watches? Is there a trick here I haven't discovered or...
Thanks for sharing these great informations Thang and thanks for your work with the BP webpage.

Thanks JK... I'm pretty sure the 00/36 is a prototype used for photography purposes. I held a similar 00/59 of a BFI watch in London before when it was still a prototype. Nevertheless probably not very wise to have photos with 00 flying around as it would make people think there's an 'extra one' in the edition. I'll try and find out in this particular 'case' about this BP.

    Thang

Since this is the Benelux & Scandinavian lim edition, I went to my AD to see this beauty. Here are some pics I made this afternoon.

Thanks Tonny, very very handsome watch but I just don't understand why this model (and PPC) is supposed to 'honor' the 80th anniversary. Something close to the original would make more sense, but that just me maybe?

    Best regards,

    Bob
